Mostly sunny Friday, clouds increase Saturday, rain/storms Sunday

Friday morning was cold across central and south Alabama, at least around sunrise. Temperatures fell into the 30s in most locations overnight. However, sunshine was abundant throughout the morning. Temperatures rebounded into the low to mid 60s by midday. Temperatures warm to near 70° Friday afternoon, while the sky remains mostly sunny. Friday night still turns somewhat cool, with lows in the 40s while the sky becomes partly cloudy.

Clouds increase Saturday, though temperatures still warm into the low to perhaps mid 70s. Isolated showers appear possible during the evening, but many locations remain dry. In fact, most of Valentine’s Day looks relatively dry across our area. Rain and some storms appear much more likely by early Sunday morning across west Alabama. Rain and storms move west to east across our area during the day.

The storm prediction center now places a marginal (level 1/5) severe risk across all of our area Sunday. A few strong to severe storms, especially early in the day across west Alabama, may produce a damaging wind gust or two up to 60 mph.
