Man convicted of child sex charges involving two children in Chilton County
A man has been convicted of child sex-related charges involving two young children in Chilton County.
District Attorney CJ Robinson said 33-year-old Charles Davis was found guilty of two counts of sodomy in the first degree.
Robinson says Davis was convicted of sodomizing a young girl, who was six at the time, and for the sodomy of a young boy, which took place over a two-year span, and began when the boy was seven years old.
Prosecutors called an additional witness who testified that Davis had sexually abused her from the time she was nine until she was eleven years old.
“This man is another disgusting individual who preyed multiple times on vulnerable children and he had to be stopped. We put on testimony of three separate children that he sexually abused. I am not convinced they are the only ones he victimized,” Robinson said.
“The case came to light when the young girl in this case was willing to disclose her abuse to a counselor at school and the counselor, as a mandated reporter, contacted DHR, which in turn contacted law enforcement. This is a perfect example of the system working as it should to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and I am grateful for the relationships and collaboration we have in this county when it comes to protecting children.”
Charles Davis is set for sentencing at the Chilton County Courthouse before Circuit Judge Joy Booth on April 8.
