Kiwanis Club of Montgomery presents grants from Alabama National Fair proceeds

The Alabama National Fair may have been held way back in October, but its impact is still being felt now.

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery puts on the fair each year, and at its annual luncheon, the club is donating the proceeds.

The fair brought out more than 100,000 people, which translates into more than a quarter-million dollars worth of grants.

Those grants are going to 24 non-profits in the River Region, which are thankful for the support.

“We support organizations that are dealing with at-risk children, some that are providing opportunity in the areas of arts and stem education,” Kiwanis Club President Justin Aday told Action 8 News. “Others are providing after school opportunities, and some that are providing sports related opportunities. So really all across the spectrum, in different ways that children’s lives can be touched and enriched, those are the type of organizations we are looking to support, and that we honored here today.”

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery is the fourth-largest Kiwanis Club in the world. The fair is its annual fundraiser.

It’s been held since 1954.
