Christians gather across the world for Easter Sunday

Churches have been full of families to celebrate the Easter Holiday. Action 8 was at a local Montgomery church to see why Easter Sunday means so much to Christians across the nation.

Hundreds gathered at Taylor Road Baptist Church for their Easter service, and like thousands across the River Region, they’re celebrating the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

For some, Easter may be hunting candy filled eggs, or snapping a picture with the Easter Bunny, but for millions of Christians across the globe, it is to celebrate the foundation of their faith in God.

“We celebrate because our Lord and Savior rose from the dead, and that sacrifice to us, is how we’re able to get in to Heaven and have that relationship with Him. It’s super meaningful that we can have that personal connection because of what He gave up for us,” said church attendee, Morgan Dozier.

Many surveys and polls taken over the years have shown that people are most open to going to Church on Easter Sunday. Taylor Road Baptist Church attendee, Jeff Elliott, talked with Action 8 about why he thinks that may be.

“I believe it’s because it’s the beginning of a faith, and the beginning of a walk. So, when you see people coming back, they’re coming back to connect, connect to what’s important, connect to Jesus and what He was, and what He told us,” said church, attendee Jeff Elliott.

The Bible teaches being a Christian doesn’t start and end with attending church or an Easter Sunday service, but instead to live your life by Faith and to spread the Word of God.

“At the end of every one of our services, our pastor says ‘you are sent on mission with Jesus.’ Christianity is apart of our lives, and we are to live daily set apart from the world, live loving others around us, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching people to follow Him and introducing people to him,” said Taylor Road Baptist Church Youth Pastor, Joseph Falcione.

The Easter holiday has been celebrated by Christians around the world for nearly 2,000 years.
