MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Montgomery Regional Airport has officially launched its new service to Houston.
United Express Airlines, operated by SkyWest Airlines, will give passengers from Montgomery a new way of getting to the “Space City.”
This new route connects Montgomery passengers directly to one of United Airlines’ largest hubs, opening the door to seamless connections to key markets throughout Latin America, Mexico, and beyond.
United Airlines will offer twice-daily service between Montgomery and Houston, with departures from MGM at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Fares for the new route start as low as $299.
The launch of this service also marks a return to Houston for MGM, reestablishing a connection that previously existed when United Airlines operated under Continental Airlines.
“This is a significant milestone for Montgomery Regional Airport and the communities we serve,” said Executive Director Loyd Jenkins. “This new service to Houston strengthens the connection between two dynamic markets, creating new opportunities for business growth, regional collaboration, and economic development. As we continue to expand our air service, we are not only enhancing travel options for our passengers, but also supporting stronger ties between Montgomery and Houston’s thriving business community.”
The inaugural celebration took place at MGM Tuesday, featuring a ribbon cutting ceremony, community partners, and special guest appearances to commemorate the occasion.
