Pay it Forward: Jennifer Kirk of Montgomery
It’s no secret that those who work in the medical and emergency fields have tough jobs. But at Jackson Hospital, Jennifer Kirk makes sure the nurses, staff, and patients there are appreciated.
Kirk works in the emergency department. Kirk pays it forward by making sure her nurses feel cared for — in the high pressure environment they work in.
“Because they have hard days and they deal with a lot.,” Kirk tells Action 8 News. “So I want them to make sure that when they are here on that 12 hour shift, that they are still at ‘home.’ that they have that home feeling.”
We’re told for every celebration or holiday, she uses her creativeness to make others feel special.
“She does all of our birthdays, nurse week, tech week, EMS week,” explains Victoria Robson, who nominated Kirk. “She gets all of that organized. A lot of that is hand painted artwork. And so we appreciate her for that. And the patients do too.”
That’s why Stewart Vance with the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to her.
Those that work with Jennifer say she is a person that loves and cares for others. She, on the other hand, says she is just using the talents God gave her.
“I mother everybody. And I like to please everybody, so that is my talent He gave me. I put my creativity out for everybody to see, and I make sure that they know it. I didn’t realize that there were so many people who even noticed me, to be honest with you.” Kirk says.
Well, they do notice. And if you have any guesses about what she’s planning on doing with her $333, you’re probably right.
“Everybody says I need to spend it on me, I know. But, I’m gonna put it back in the ED. I’m gonna give it to the nurses, for their week, the NST weeks, and stuff like that,” says Kirk.
Thank you, Jennifer, for all you to do Pay it Forward!
