Pay It Forward: Shadel Johnson of Prattville
Shadel Johnson of Prattville works as a security guard at Prattville High School. We’re told she goes above and beyond for her fellow staff and the students through her caring heart.
Johnson has worked at the high school for 21 years. She plays a vital roll in the lives of students by providing snack money to kids who don’t have any, being a listening ear to those who need one, and cooking for families who are going through a tough situation.
“She has brought the raising, the gifting and the talents and the love and that courageous spirit to Prattville High School , certainly to not only be blessing to the staff but the children as a whole,” says Janice Richard, the sister of Shadel Johnson.
It’s like a full circle moment for Johnson because she works at the same school her mother retired from. In fact, her mother is her biggest inspiration.
“My mother was a lovely person,” says Johnson. “She made sure everybody was happy. She made sure everyone ate during the holidays. I just had a lovely caring mother. And I have a lot of her ways with people. I love people. I love my family.”
That’s why Stewart Vance with the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to her.
It’s fitting that Johnson is being honored around the Easter season, as someone who also honors others by giving.
“She is a pillar in our community,” says Charlena Drayton, who nominated Johnson. “She is a mother figure for all of these kids here. She takes her hard earned funds and feeds the less fortunate. She exemplifies the statement ‘I’ll give you the shirt off my back so you can have.'”
Johnson says shes planning to use her $333 to continue to do good for others.
“I’m gonna take my little change, I’m going to the grocery store, I gotta feed the strip for Easter, they’re waiting on me,” says Johnson.
Thank you, Shadel, for all you do to Pay it Forward!
