Study: Marriage can lower cancer risk
MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGHS (WAKA) – A new study suggests that marriage may be linked to a lower risk of cancer.
There’s growing research that finds men and women who have never been married may be at a higher risk.
The study finds the risk for women in that group is 83% higher, and for unmarried men, 68% higher.
However, those risks depend on the type of cancer and other factors.
For example, women who have never given birth are at a higher risk of ovarian cancers.
Focusing on older adults, the study’s lead author believes the marriage health benefit accumulates over time.
The full study has now been published in the Journal of Cancer Research Communications.
