Dry through Tuesday, Rain/storms Wednesday night into Thursday

After a sunny, dry, and cooler Saturday and Sunday, Monday remains dry with sunshine but becomes a bit warmer during the afternoon. Temperatures warm into the low 80s with a mostly sunny sky Monday. Monday night looks mainly clear and cool again, with lows in the low 50s, maybe upper 40s for some. Tuesday looks partly to mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Much of Wednesday looks partly cloudy, warm, and dry with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. However, rain and storms return Wednesday night as a cold front moves into central and south Alabama. Some storms may be strong to severe across the northwest part of our area. Damaging wind gusts look like the main hazard. For now, the storm prediction center places a marginal (level 1/5) to slight (2/5) severe risk across our area through early Thursday morning.

The front may move slowly through our area, leading to “training” thunderstorms over the same areas. That could lead to substantial rain totals for at least part of our area. That should help put a dent in the ongoing drought. Rain and thunder likely continues across south Alabama through at least Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon may trend drier, though additional showers appear possible Friday on the backside of the cold front.

We may see rain this weekend, though models diverge on how central and south Alabama’s weather shapes up Saturday and Sunday. However, it looks like another front may head towards the southeast early next week. That results in showers, perhaps some thunder next Monday, perhaps into Tuesday. Although, it looks like our area trends drier next Wednesday, and possibly cooler too.
