Strong To Severe Storms Pushing Southward This Evening

A frontal boundary will hover over Central and South Alabama Tuesday.  This boundary will be the focal point for additional showers and t-storms through Tuesday evening.  We expect this frontal system to push southward and high pressure to build in behind it.  This would put us in a mainly clear and milder air mass for a few days.

In the meantime, showers and t-storms are likely this evening.  Some storms will be strong to possibly severe. The main threat will be damaging wind gust  up to 70 mph along and ahead of squall line.  Rainfall will be heavy and ponding of water is likely.  The line will push all the way into South Alabama during the later evening hours.  We expect the line to have weakened before 10pm.  The rest of the night is looking mostly cloudy with temps falling to around 70 degrees for lows.

Scattered showers and t-storms are possible again on Tuesday, otherwise we’re expecting a mix of sun and clouds with temps in the mid to upper 80s for highs.  The area of high pressure will build southward into the area Wednesday through the latter half of the week.  A surge of dry and milder air will spill into the area for a couple of days.  Daytime high temps will drop into the lower 80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Looks like typical hot and humid conditions will be making it back into the area over the upcoming weekend.  Temps will manage the upper 80s to lower 90s for highs and lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s.  We will add in a chance for those afternoon showers or t-storms as well.
