MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man has been sentenced for his role in a shooting at a Montgomery bowling alley that left one man dead and six others injured.

Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver says Tory Johnson has been sentenced to 32 years and six months for reckless murder, 20 years for two counts of first-degree reckless assault, and 10 years for four counts of second-degree assault.

The shooting happened at Bama Lanes on Atlanta Highway on January 9, 2022.

The shooting claimed the life of Jeffrey Reed. According to witness accounts, Oliver says the violence stemmed from an argument between two groups of young women inside the bowling alley. Witnesses stated that Johnson inserted himself into the dispute, produced a gun and began recklessly firing into the crowd.

Although the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office requested that the sentences against Johnson run consecutively, Judge Tiffany McCord ordered that they be served concurrently.
