Man sentenced for Montgomery hotel shooting that left woman dead, teenager paralyzed
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for a shooting at a Montgomery hotel that left a woman dead and a teenager paralyzed.
Montgomery County District Attorney Azzie Oliver says Judge Monet Gaines has sentenced Brendan Thomas for the shooting, which happened on Labor Day 2023.
Thomas was found guilty of murdering 20-year-old Adrianna Conville and of the attempted murder of 17-year-old DeVris Bilbrew inside a hotel in the 1400 block of Eastern Boulevard.
Oliver says on September 4, 2023, Thomas arrived at the hotel to visit Conville. When Conville told Thomas she did not want to leave with him, Oliver says he opened fire on her and Bilbrew, who was also in the room.
Conville was struck in the back of her head and the rear of her thigh, while Bilbrew was hit twice in his back and once in the chest, leaving him permanently paralyzed.
