State troopers say the chase began just after 11AM yesterday morning when a trooper tried to stop a driver who was speeding and changing lanes recklessly going southbound on Interstate 65 near the 173 mile marker.

The driver wouldn’t stop, leading the state trooper on a chase. The driver got off the interstate at Exit 168, then turned onto U.S. Highway 31. Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies joined the chase, as well as officers from the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit.

The chase ended on U.S. Highway 31 near Union Academy Road when a MACS officer got the driver stopped.

State troopers say the driver then ran away but was later captured. He has been identified as 50-year-old Dontay Goshay of Union Springs.

Investigators say Goshay is charged with felony attempting to elude, reckless driving, for going 108MPH in a 55MPH zone, driving with a revoked driver license along with other traffic offenses.

State troopers say after his arrest, it was also determined that Goshay also had multiple warrants for attempting to elude.
