Two people killed in head-on crash in Lee County
LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – A man and a woman have been killed in a head-on crash in Lee County that left another person injured.
Alabama State Troopers say 80-year-old William C. Smith, Jr, of the Salem community of Lee County was driving a car that hit another car head-on. The other car was driven by 32-year-old Sir Steven Christopher Bush, Jr., of Opelika.
Investigators say Smith was killed, while Bush was injured and taken to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika for treatment.
In addition, state troopers say a passenger in Smith’s car was also killed. She has been identified as 47-year-old Ginger Nicole Smith McConnell of Salem.
The crash happened at about 10:47AM yesterday near the intersection of Alabama Highway 169 and Lee County Road 140, about seven miles north of Opelika.
