Lowndes County residents mourn the death of school principal
LOWNDES COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Lowndes County school system has announced the death of school principal Christopher Chambers.
The announcement was made by Superintendent Samita Jeter. Chambers was the principal at Lowndes County Middle School in Ft. Deposit.
State Rep. Phillip Ensler (D-Montgomery) knew Chambers and released this statement:
“I join my former colleagues and students from Lee High School in Montgomery who are devastated by the news of Chris Chambers’ passing. I had the privilege of working with him from 2012-2014. My heart goes out to his family and all who are hurting. His sudden passing is a reminder of how tragic life can be and the importance of always loving and supporting one another,” Ensler wrote. Lee High School has since been renamed Percy Julian High School from the time they were there.
Selma City Schools has also released a statement because Chambers used to work in that school system:
“The Selma City Schools community is heartbroken over the sudden loss of former school administrator Mr. Christopher Chambers. His three years of dedication as the Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at Selma High School greatly enriched the lives of countless students. Let us come together to honor his legacy and support his family and friends in this time of sorrow.”
Details regarding his death and funeral information have not yet been announced.
