MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Vacation Bible School students spent time helping others at the Heart of Alabama Food Bank in Montgomery.

The KidsLife Children’s Ministries group from Coosada Baptist Church took time today to donate food to the food bank and to learn more about how it helps thousands of people across Alabama.

As part of their Vacation Bible School project, the children have been collecting cereal through a friendly boys vs. girls competition. They brought the cereal donations with them to the food bank.

The children also found out more about food insecurity and packed food boxes for local seniors.

They met people from Zizi’s Bee Company, one of the food bank’s partner agencies. Zizi’s brought its hands-on educational bee trailer, giving the children a safe, up-close encounter with live bees while teaching them about the important role pollinators play in our food system and everyday lives.
