ACTION 8 NEWS: New details released in crash that killed ALDOT worker in Bullock County

BULLOCK COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – New details have been released in a crash that killed an ALDOT worker at a road work site in Bullock County last month.

As Action 8 News has reported, the two-vehicle crash happened just before 10AM on Thursday, May 28. Alabama State Troopers say 48-year-old Amad Jackson of Montgomery was killed.

State troopers say Jackson worked for ALDOT and was riding on a trailer was hit by a dump truck driven by 53-year-old Ronnie Johnson of Hurtsboro. Jackson was thrown off of the trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the trailer was being used to complete roadway maintenance and was being pulled by a pickup truck driven by 46-year-old Gary Battle of Uniontown, who is also an employee with ALDOT. Battle was injured and was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.

Johnson, the driver of the dump truck, was not injured.

The crash happened on Alabama Highway 51, approximately seven miles west of Hurtsboro.
