18-year-old arrested in Lee County murder
LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – Lee County deputies have arrested a man in a deadly shooting earlier this month.
Sheriff Jay Jones tells Action 8 News that on July 11, his deputies responded to a home in the 800 block of Lee Road 197 after a person was shot at a house party.
Once they arrived, they found a man lying in the yard with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was taken to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, GA, where he later died.
Sheriff Jones said on Monday, investigators and the U.S. Marshal Service conducted a search warrant in the 300 block of Lee Road 706 in Beauregard.
That’s where they arrested 18-year-old Raymond Drew Earl, of Phenix City.
Earl has been charged with murder is currently in the Lee County Detention Center without bond, pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
