Joint investigation leads to speedy arrest in Selma homicide

Selma police and the State Bureau of Investigation make an arrest in Selma’s latest homicide.

Waka Arrest9th0728 SotvoInterim Selma Police Chief Michael Perry announced the arrest in front of police headquarters this morning.

Perry says 18 year old Damon Kanard Hooks, Jr. — is facing several charges — including capital murder.

Hooks is accused in the death of 46 year old Terence McGraw of Selma.

McGraw was shot and killed Sunday morning on the 300 block of St. Ann Street.

“The investigators were able to quickly identify a suspect. This case is an excellent example of what can be accomplished when local and state law enforcement agencies work together towards a common goal. Bringing offenders to justice and keeping our community safe,” said Perry.

Hooks is also charged with several counts of breaking and entering a vehicle.

Hooks is being held in the Perry County Prep Center without bond.
