Man out on bond for 2023 murder charged with attempted murder

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police have made an arrest in a pedestrian struck that happened earlier this month.

It happened around 8:37 a.m. on July 5 in the 1200 block of Eastern Boulevard. Once officers arrived, they found a female victim suffering from injuries consistent with road rash.

The victim was taken to Baptist South for treatment.

According to court records, a review of the video surveillance from the gas station showed the victim running from the intersection of Carmichael Road and Eastern Boulevard.

The video showed an SUV doing a U-turn and speeding into the gas station parking lot and intentionally hitting the victim.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Fredricquez Richardson, of Montgomery, was taken into custody on July 7 and charged with attempted murder.

Action 8 News has learned that Richardson was out on bond for a murder investigation in Selma in December 2023.

Court records say Richardson, along with another suspect, was charged in a deadly shooting on Christmas Eve in the 2400 block of North Church Street.

Investigators say the victim’s car was shot multiple times. After the victim, identified as Jaylen Whatley, got out of the car and ran off, the suspects chased him down and shot him multiple times.

Richardson is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
