CAMPAIGN 2026: Maurice Mercer wins Democratic nomination in U.S. House District 6

CAMPAIGN 2026 (WAKA) – The Associated Press has projected that Maurice Mercer will win the Democratic nomination for U.S. House District 6.

As the race was called, Mercer had about 64% of the vote in the four-candidate race.

Mercer has held a seat on Pelham City Council, a Birmingham suburb, including being council president.

He will face incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer in November. Palmer was first elected to the seat in 2014.
