1 injured, 1 arrested in Pike Road shooting

PIKE ROAD, Ala. (WAKA) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Pike Road.

It happened around 7:02 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Setter Trail. That’s in the Boykin Lakes community just off Marler Road.

According to court records, deputies arrived to find a victim with a gunshot wound to the groin.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Court records also say 44-year-old Derrick Tarrance was on the scene and taken into custody for questioning.

Officials say Tarrance admitted to being in a verbal argument with the victim before firing a single shot striking the victim.

Tarrance is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a $15,000 bond.
