MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Alabama Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit over whether Tommy Tuberville is an Alabama resident who is qualified to run for governor.

Tuberville is the Republican nominee for governor, but has faced questions about whether he’s lived in Alabama for the seven years that’s required to run for that office.

As Action 8 News has reported, the lawsuit claims he’s actually been a Florida resident, due to having a beach house there.

The Supreme Court said it’s up to political parties and not the courts to decide who’s qualified to run, upholding a lower court’s dismissal of the lawsuit.

Tuberville faces Democrat Doug Jones in the November 3 general election.
