“Know Before You Go”: Montgomery Co. probate judge gives voting tips one week before election
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – We are one week away now from nationwide midterm elections that could shape who has control in government.
In Alabama, voters will choose the next Alabama governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, U.S Senator, U.S. Congress, and many more state races.
The election is next Tuesday November 3.
Montgomery County Probate Judge J.C. Love III says it is important for people to know where to vote before heading to the polls. He says voting locations may differ from your normal county or state elections compared to the national elections.
Voters should also get an understanding of who is running for each seat and remember that there are also constitutional amendments on the ballots that voters will choose.
“We just want to let you know that as election day is coming,” Judge Love says. “Know before you go, as well. See what’s on the ballot but also on election day.”
He says if you are unsure of where your polling location is, you can go to Alabamavotes.gov and put in your address and birth name. It will also tell you what district you are voting in.
There are also ways to find out how long the wait times are at your voting precinct.
“One of the things we often hear in Montgomery County is that you could also look at the wait times at the polls as you’re planning your trip out, before you go to work on your lunch hour or on your way home.” says Judge Love. “You can go to the election centers website as well as look on our mobile app you can also look and find out what the wait times are on election day.”
Judge Love says there are 51 voting precincts in Montgomery County.
If you are still in your voting line when polls close at 7 P.M., you will still able to vote.
