Pike Co. Commission Denies Judge’s Request

 

Judge Wes Allen was asking the commission for the option to obtain legal counsel out of Montgomery on the same-sex marriage issue. 

 

Commissioners denied it and were unhappy with the probate judge for comments he made in the local paper claiming that their denial meant the commission supported same-sex marriage.

 

Four out of six commissioners rejected the proposal.  Allen said it would not require any additional funding.

 

But some commission said they didn’t think they should be getting a lawyer until the county is sued. And that there are plenty of lawyers in the county.
