Pike County To Celebrate Small Business Development

Pike County will be promoting business development all next week.

Today local city and county leaders, as well as the chamber of commerce and other business leaders came together at Troy University.

They signed a proclamation declaring next week Small Business Development Week.

All next week there will be free business counseling available as well as two free events.

One will focus on how to start or grow your business and the other is a social media bootcamp.

Judy Callin, Director Small Business Development Center said, “Anyone can start a business but the trick is staying in business. So you want to do the research and the planning up front. Or, if you are in business you want to do the research and planning before expanding and making any changes.”

Mark Hayes, Lockheed Martin Site Quality Manager Pike Co. said, “We need the support of a lot of other businesses. We buy a lot of materials we do a lot of expansion projects using local Pike County businesses.. And for us to grow and have that infrastructure, we need the county to grow as well. So it’s very important for us.”
