From the West Alabama Newsroom– Selma Police investigate weekend shooting, stabbing and beating.
A convenience store clerk is behind bars after a violent weekend in Selma. Police say 29 year old Obad Ali Al Amri of Yemen is charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting an unruly customer.
The shooting happened Sunday night on the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue.
Amri told police the man got upset — pulled out a knife and started knocking merchandise off the shelves after he couldn’t buy alcohol.
“The clerk came outside with a gun and fired several shots at him, which we recovered the clerk’s weapon, a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol,” said Selma Police Lt. Curtis Muhannad. “We haven’t recovered the knife.”
Muhannad says police are also investigating a double assault from Saturday where one man stabbed another man — then got attacked and beaten himself. No arrests have been made in that case.
