Selma Police and the Boy Scouts of America are using the great outdoors to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
The 1st annual Youth Leadership Camp is underway at Camp Tukabatchee near Prattville. More than a dozen boys and girls from Selma — ages 12 to 15 — are attending the weeklong camp.
“You’re going to have 5 days and 4 nights and they’ll stay overnight. they got the cabins,” said Selma Police Chief William Riley. “Hey, you’re going to have to rough it a little bit but it’ll be something different that they’ve never done before.”
Activities at the camp are designed to teach and build individual and team leadership skills.
Riley says the camp was made possible through donations from the Selma business community. He says it costs about $350 dollars for each camper to attend.
