It was a hot weekend but thousands cooled off with the Blues in Wetumpka.
The fourth annual River and Blues Festival was held in Downtown. Organizers were expecting 10-12,000 people to filter in and out. The free event featured music, art and food vendors. Every year it’s drawn a large crowd. Organizers say that’s not only a nice boast for the economy but also a way to bring the community together.
Thad Hankins, Founder River and Blues Festival said, “Kind of felt like it was a missing piece that brought everyone together in one place to hang out and be a community and it’s kind of grown and now we are pulling in people from all over the place so it’s just something fun to do during the summer.”
Next year organizers say they want to take it up a notch for the fifth annual festival- saying they will already start planning Monday.
