It’s been an eyesore for almost five years. But now, one part of Montgomery is getting new life.
Mayor Todd Strange and developers broke ground on a new development near the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Perry Hill.
It’s where the former Head Elementary School used to stand before being demolished.
Zaxby’s, Burger King, Sol Mexican Restaurant, The Wharf Casual Seafood, Shane’s Rib Shack, and a MapCo Gas Station have all announced they are moving in.
Noah Griggs, COO/Partner Wharf Casual Seafood said, “Expansion is good, but when you leave a trail of businesses going away and shutting down, it’s healthy to revitalize and keep the community strong. And so it’s one thing to have growth but the key here is to make sure that those that are within the city, closer to downtown have a great experience and they need everything, they need retail they need food and this is how we keep a community strong and Montgomery strong.”
These developments are expected to bring 160 jobs to the area. Pre-construction site work is done. The Zaxby’s, Burger King, and MapCo gas station plan to open for business by the end of this year. Others will open in the Spring of next year.
