Suspect on the run following fatal shooting in Dallas Co.
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
One man is dead. Another is seriously hurt. And the suspect is on the run from authorities — following a shooting in Dallas County.
The shooting happened Sunday at a house on the 8500 block of County Road 189 in Marion Junction.
Sheriff Mike Granthum says 18 year old Cedric Long — is wanted for murder and attempted murder — in the case.
Residents told investigators that they were cleaning up after a baby shower — when the sound of gunshots rang out.
“These are people that were at the house enjoying a baby shower of all things. And then when they were cleaning up they hear two gunshots outside the house,” Granthum said.
“They were up under the tree, just having a good time, talking, enjoying the family function, celebrating the baby shower. No arguments occurred. Nothing took place that would lead to something like this that anybody was able to witness. They did know that this subject is the one who pulled the trigger. I mean, cause they actually retrieved the gun from him. And he’s avoiding capture.
Granthum says Long is in a questionable state of mind — and should be considered — armed and dangerous. So, he wants the public — to be on the lookout.
“We’re in the process now of locating him and we will find him. We will locate him. And if you do happen to run across him please call authorities,” said Granthum.
“You may think you know him, but what provoked this? We’re still trying to find out what took place? Why he did something like this? We don’t know.”
Authorities say Long could be in the Hale County area.
