Eclectic teenager killed in pickup truck wreck

A 17-year-old from Eclectic has been killed in a pickup truck crash.

Alabama state troopers say the truck left the roadway and overturned. Investigators say the teen was not using a seat belt and died at the scene.

The wreck happened at about 11:13AM on Harrogate Springs Road, about one mile east of Wetumpka.

Elmore County School Supt. Richard Dennis says the student attended Elmore County High School. He says an 18-year-old classmate was injured in the wreck.

Dennis says the principal at Elmore County High School has opened the gym and has local pastors and counselors available for those who choose to visit.

He says the system’s thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
