After helping her team to a perfect 5-5 start to the season in the Buzz Classic, outfielder Lauren Johnson was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week. Johnson led the team batting a .545 off of six hits. She also accounted for four runs scored,  two RBIs, and three stolen bases.

In Johnson’s first career start against Longwood, she went three for three and stole two bases. Of the six hits that Johnson had during the Buzz Classic, two of them were doubles which made her one of four Alabama players to earn two doubles during the Buzz Classic.

This is the first weekly SEC Award of Johnson’s career and she is also the first member of the Crimson Tide this season to earn SEC weekly honors.
