TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama reserve defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been dismissed from the team in the wake of allegations he threatened a police officer who was involved in a previous arrest of Kirkpatrick last year.
Kirkpatrick was arrested Friday on misdemeanor charges of doxing and harassing communications with police and initially was suspended for Alabama’s victory over Texas A&M on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said Kirkpatrick “will no longer be a part of our program,” adding that the veteran defender “did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team.”
Kirkpatrick allegedly sent an officer a message containing profanity and allegedly posted a photo of the officer and his family on social media, according to documents obtained by WBRC and The Tuscaloosa Thread.
Kirkpatrick was suspended for the latter half of the 2025 season after his arrest on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of attempting to elude and speeding. Kirkpatrick was allowed to rejoin the team last spring, but in June was charged with unlawfully operating a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.
Kirkpatrick is the son of former Alabama and NFL cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick Sr. He had played in each of Alabama’s first seven games this season.
