ACTION 8 UPDATE: Man charged after Montgomery police say he fired at officer in East South Boulevard area
ACTION 8 UPDATE: Montgomery police have charged a man after they say he fired at an officer Monday afternoon.
Police say 19-year-old Savion German is charged with attempted murder, unlawful breaking and entering into a vehicle, and firing a gun into an occupied dwelling. He has been placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
Police Department spokesperson Maj. Saba Coleman told Action 8 News that about 3:50 Monday afternoon, police were called to the 3800 block of East South Boulevard, which is near the intersection of Troy Highway. Coleman says when police made contact with what was described as a suspicious subject, the person ran off with at least one officer running behind.
Coleman says during the chase, the person fired at the officer but the officer did not return fire. More officers were called to the chase before the person was caught around the Eastern Boulevard Service Road and Richard Road.
Coleman says there were no injuries.
