Lee County teacher charged with hitting student

A teacher at Loachapoka Elementary School in Lee County has been charged with hitting a student.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says on April 18, deputies got a report from the school principal, who said that first grade teacher, 32-year-old Brittney Denise Buford of Auburn, hit a seven-year-old student in the face with her forearm.

Jones says investigators have evidence, including video from the classroom.

Jones says today, Buford was arrested for assault in the third degree. She has been released from jail on a $1,000 bond.

Action 8 News is working to find out Buford’s status with the school.
