Dallas Co. Schools one week away from new school year

The Dallas County Public School District is making its final preparations leading up to the kick off of a new school year.

And teachers return Thursday — for staff professional development training.

Superintendent Anthony Sampson says the district intends to continue to make academic progress — and build on the gains of last year.

“So, super excited about the progress all of our schools are making,” Sampson said.

“I’m excited about the progress that we made on our reading scores here just recently. And we’re excited about the progress that we made on attendance initiatives. We made some incremental gains on student attendance. We need them in school. Because when they’re there. They can learn.”

The district’s entire staff returns on August 6th.

And the school year begins August 7th.
