ACTION 8 UPDATE: Bond denied for man charged in Prattville attack
ACTION 8 UPDATE: Bond has been denied for the man charged in a brutal attack against a woman working at the High Point Town Center shopping complex in Prattville.
As Action 8 News has reported, 29-year-old Isaac Mathis of Pompano Beach, Florida, is charged with rape, attempted murder, robbery and arson.
On August 9, Mathis is accused of entering a business where the woman was working alone. According to court records, he threatened the victim with a gun before forcing her into a closet where she was raped and beaten before being able to get away and seek help.
Police say Mathis also robbed the business and tried to set it on fire before running away.
Court records show Mathis was taken into custody near JCPenney. Officers say they recovered about $937, a deposit bag belonging to the business and a key to the drawer that was taken during the assault.
Court records also state that Mathis made incriminating statements during his arrest, was caught on surveillance, has an extensive criminal history and has no ties to the area.
