Suspect dead in Auburn officer-involved shooting

The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Auburn.

The incident happened late Monday night in the 200 block of West Longleaf Drive.

Officials say a suspect armed with a handgun made forcible entry into the residence occupied by an officer with the Auburn Police Department.

The suspect, 21-year-old Amari Young, was shot and later pronounced dead on the scene.

No officers were injured over the course of the incident.

Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Lee County District Attorney’s Office.
