Assault in Macon County Jail leaves inmate dead, another inmate charged with murder

An assault inside the Macon County Jail has left an inmate dead and another inmate charged with murder, according to ALEA.

Investigators say they launched the investigation after 24-year-old Daniel Pollard of Tuskegee assaulted 72-year-old John Reed of Union Springs in a holding cell. Reed was pronounced dead at the jail.

ALEA says once complete, the findings will be  turned over to the Macon County District Attorney’s Office.
