Warming up early this week, severe storms possible Tuesday night

Sunday was another mainly sunny day across central and south Alabama. However, temperatures were significantly cooler than Saturday. Morning lows were in the upper 30s to low 40s, with lower wind chill values. High temperatures were only in the low to mid 60s. Sunday night looks cold again, with lows in the upper 30s.

Monday and Tuesday trend warmer with a mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures range from the mid 60s to low 70s Monday. Monday night lows remain closer to 50°. Tuesday looks rather warm, with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Strong southeast winds, with gusts over 20 mph at times, contribute to Tuesday’s warm weather. Rain and storms look likely Tuesday night.

Some storms could be strong to severe, capable of damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes. The severe weather window opens at 7PM in west Alabama, and closes at 3AM across east Alabama. The rest of Wednesday looks mainly dry, cooler, and breezy. Thursday and Friday look mainly dry with a partly cloudy sky. More rain may affect Alabama next weekend, with the bulk of that on Saturday.
