Behind the Biscuits: Meet third baseman Brayden Taylor

Action 8 is once again giving you a behind the scenes look at our Montgomery Biscuits. Get to know third baseman Brayden Taylor.

From learning to hit a ball at his childhood home in Utah, it seems baseball has always been a part of his life.

“Ever since I can remember, I just picked up a bat. I think my first bat was a little foam bat, and then my dad would hold a little foam ball in his hand and we’d use that as a tee basically, and I would just hit.”

He stuck with it, earning a chance to play Division I college baseball. Brayden took his talents to Texas Christian University.

“I met all of my best friends and I had great coaches and played really good baseball there against a lot of good players and with a lot of good players, so it was awesome.”

He then got the call of a lifetime at the 2023 MLB Draft.

“I had no idea the Rays were gonna pick me until about five seconds before they called. We were all sitting there at a table in the back room at the draft and one of my agents was with me and they were like, ‘Hey, we think it might be this one right here’ and it was the Rays coming up, and we were like, alright.”

He is now listed as third on the Rays’ prospect list. Brayden says he’s not focused on the number, but just getting 1% better each day in hopes of getting another life changing call.
