CAMPAIGN 2026: Action 8 News has confirmed that State Treasurer Young Boozer is seeking another four years in office.

Boozer, a Republican, was first elected in 2010, then re-elected in 2014.

Boozer left office due to term limits, which prevent constitutional officers from serving more than two consecutive terms.

He returned as state treasurer in 2021, when Gov. Kay Ivey appointed him to replace John McMillan who went on to lead the state medical cannabis commission.

Boozer was elected to a third term in 2022 and would be serving a fourth term if he’s re-elected. So far he has no opposition.

The Alabama primaries are May 19, 2026.
