Behind the Biscuits: Colton Ledbetter
Biscuit’s outfielder Colton Ledbetter, a native of Hoover, Alabama, always dreamed of playing in arenas such as the Hoover Met, Regions Field, and Riverwalk Stadium as a child. Years later he’s doing just that and making a career out of it.
“Whenever I play here, at the Birmingham Barons, or at the Hoover Met I’d be like man, I can’t wait I hope that I can you know one day become like a professional baseball player and fulfill my dreams and all that. So, it’s very surreal,” says Ledbetter.
Ledbetter went on to play college baseball, spending time at two different schools. His first stop was at Samford. After two seasons with the Bulldogs, Ledbetter made the transition to the SEC where he decided it was time to play for some different Bulldogs across the state line in Mississippi at Mississippi State.
“It’s kind of like an out of body experience. It’s just something that I’ve always wanted to do when I was younger cause living in Hoover and going to the Hoover Met for the SEC Baseball Tournament was always a dream of mine to play in the SEC,” explains Ledbetter.
In 2023, Ledbetter was drafted by the Rays in the 2nd round as the 55th overall pick.
Right now, Ledbetter is listed as
No. 25 on the Rays prospect list. His projected call up date is set for 2026.
