Pay It Forward: Barbara Anderson of Montgomery

Barbara Anderson is the director of the senior ministry at her church of New Home Baptist. She’s always taking the seniors on trips, out to eat, and frequently takes them to the nursing home to play bingo and give gifts to the patients.

Ernest Tate Jr. nominated her saying, “her work ethic, her attitude, her passion for the ministry, she goes above and beyond the call of duty always trying to put a smile on everybody’s face.”

Anderson is also a breast cancer survivor and assists other patients who are walking a similar journey.

And she’s always giving back.

“She’s been a mentor to me. When I joined the ministry, I saw what it meant to her to give. She doesn’t give to get. You know, the Bible says, ‘it’s better to give than receive.'”

“It’s like I don’t do anything to get recognition. I just love to see people happy. My parents were like that. They worked the community in Tuskegee, so all seven of us did the same thing,” said Anderson.
