Some Selma tornado victims still need help, nearly three years after the storm

Nearly three years after the tornado that hit Selma in 2023, some tornado victims still need help repairing their homes.

The Home Recovery Alabama Program continues to take applications from people in Dallas and Autauga counties who were impacted by the tornado. The EF-2 tornado hit Selma on January 12, 2023, destroying about one-third of the city.

The HRAP program provides grant funding to help tornado victims to repair their homes.

An opportunity to sign up for the program was held at Orrville Town Hall this week.

“I believe, I don’t only believe, I have faith,” Beatrice Pasley, who’s looking for help in making repairs, told Action 8 News. “I’m looking forward and keeping the faith and looking to the hills which come all my help and strength.”

HRAP is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
