Distinguished Young Women contestants arrive in Montgomery

Young women from all over Alabama are in Montgomery this week getting ready to compete for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama.

The 42 contestants arrived at Frazer Church on Sunday for the week long preparations.

Distinguished Young Women of Alabama is part of a national scholarship program that promotes leadership and talent in young women.

In addition to rehearsals this week, the contestants will participate in a variety of activities in the Capital City, including eating lunch with the governor, making an appearance at the Cattleman’s Association, and visiting the Kiwanis Club.

The preliminaries will take place Friday, January 23 and during the day on Saturday, January 24. The finals will be held Saturday night.
