The Alabama Crimson Tide will once again play for a National Championship title.
Things are busy at travel agencies like Alabama World Travel in Montgomery.
They are helping to book package deals to Glendale.
“We can accommodate clients who already have their tickets. We have a package that we can help combine that with. So they can have accommodations to and from stadium and a tailgate party. We’re just waiting on that chartered air flight,” said agent Julie Smothers.
The chartered flight is part of the package deal. But, unfortunately, it is already full. And they are hoping to secure another one for their clients as soon as possible.
Even though things are filling up fast, Smothers says its not as fast as other championship trips.
“We’re not seeing as big of an interest as far as our level of phone calls and level of inquiries we’ve received for this particular championship game whereas in the past when Auburn did make it there was a gigantic tick in interest and our phones did kind of ring off the hooks,” said Smothers.
This is the Crimson Tide’s 4th time to go to the big game since 2010.
Sports analyst John Longshore says fans may be deciding to stay home more.
“Maybe because they have traveled so much. They opened this season in Dallas and played again there last week. So yeah, it’s kind of tough. It’s not an inexpensive venture to follow these teams, but yeah, it is a little softer from what I understand from years past. And I think it’s because they are kind of a victim of their own success,” said Longshore.
