Pay It Forward: DeeDee Hollon of Millbrook

DeeDee Hollon spends a lot of her time caring for others. She has a special compassion for senior citizens after caring for her mother, who passed away two years ago from Alzheimers. That compassion led to a non-profit called Janie’s Light. They work with the elderly to give them someone to talk to.

“We go in, we provide companionship. That’s the number one thing we’re working on right now because seniors are so isolated. And their families are busy. Friends have passed away. Family members have passed away. So they find theirself isolated. And isolated leads to depression and other things. So I feel like this is a huge benefit,” says Hollon.

Hollon also instills love and compassion for the homeless, children, her church, and neighbors in everything she does. As a former day care owner, Hollon still helps keep kids and always participates in Operation Christmas Child. She’s always ready with an act of kindness and a servant’s heart — whether its baking bread for others or feeding the homeless

“One of the ones that have really stuck with my children is they went to Mcdonald’s and there was a homeless man there. She explained to them that we love everybody, we help everybody. They bought him food and really just kind of loved on him from a distance,” says CarolAnne Hodgins.

And that’s why Stewart Vance with the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to her.
