The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three people in connection with an arson that happened late last month.

Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon tells Action 8 News that on the night of January 31, his deputies were called to an abandoned house in the 5000 block of County Road 55 in Clanton.

Sheriff Shearon said the investigation revealed that multiple people participated in an attempt to burn the house by starting a fire on the front porch.

As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested 25-year-old David Scurlock, 22-year-old Alexis Robinson and 40-year-old Charles Brasher. All three are from Clanton.

All three suspects have been charged with Arson in the Second Degree and Criminal Conspiracy in connection with this incident.

“This incident could have resulted in serious injury or loss of life to first responders,” said Sheriff John Shearon. “Thanks to the swift work of our investigators, those responsible have been identified and taken into custody. We take crimes like arson very seriously and will continue to hold individuals accountable for actions that put our community at risk.”
